FAQs
How does B-Kool™ work?
Developed by two Arizona pilots who saw a need for an economical solution to a hot problem, B-Kool™ uses a combination of ice and water. Ice and water mixed cools to about 32ºF. The cold water is pumped through a heat exchanger then a high volume ducted fan distributes the air at about 40º.
Is B-Kool™ an evaporative cooler?
B-Kool™ is NOT an evaporative cooler. Humidity has little or no effect on its effectiveness.
How does your B-Kool differ from other products on the market?
B-Kool produces the best combination of cold air (typically between 40-50º) and cooling time that physics allow. B-Kool provides an honest 45 to 60 minutes of cold air with only 10 pounds of ice. Our unit can hold up to 25lbs of ice for even longer times of cold air.
While some manufacturers claim inflated cooling times, they cannot produce ice cold air for the duration they claim. Physics simply does not allow this.
Why does B-Kool insist on producing cold air instead of cool air?
The best way to answer this is to place a thermometer in front of your car's air conditioner outlet. The temperature will read in the 40-50°F range. Now measure the air temperature four feet from the outlet. You will notice that the temperature rapidly rises to 60-70°F or higher. This air temperature dilution is due to the mixing of cold air with warm air.
In an airplane, air often has to travel more than six feet before cooling its intended area; therefore, a combination of cold air and high air velocity is critical to achieve a comfortable desired temperature.
Why is air velocity so important?
See above. B-Kool moves cold air as quickly as possible in order to minimize air temp dilution as it passes thru warmer surrounding air. This is one reason B-Kool has not offered a multi-speed fan option. In reality, users are either going to have the unit on or off. Multi-speed fans are virtually useless.
Does B-Kool offer a multi-speed pump?
No. Similar to multi-speed fans, multi-speed pumps are virtually useless. B-Kool regulates the flow of ice water to achieve the longest possible time of circulated cold air. Features such as multi-speed pumps only add to the cost of the unit and do little (if anything) to accomplish desired cooling. With hundreds of test flights backing B-Kool’s data, the design of our unit provides the best combination of cold air and cooling time possible.
What size is your B-kool?
B-Kool measures only 18.25"W x 12.5"D x 15.38"H”. The unit can hold up to 25 pounds of ice which provides up to two full hours of cold air; longer for cool air (above 50º)
Do you offer a larger unit?
When we tested a larger unit we discovered that larger doesn't mean better cooling or longer time of cooling. Our solution to more cooling or longer cooling time is the “Dual Kool” option.
Dual Kool is actually two B-Kool units, with the second unit discounted to put the pricing in line with larger units on the market. Using two small units is far superior to using one large unit. With the Dual-Kool, you can carry an incredible 50 lbs. of ice if you so desire.
To achieve more cooling time, operate one Dual Kool unit at a time. This is easy to do with our wireless remote system. To achieve more cooling, both Dual Kool units can be operated at the same time.
With Dual Kool, when deciding between luggage or cooling, there is a choice. Take only one Dual Kool unit rather than both. The foot print of Dual Kool is similar to that of larger single-unit coolers. Two B-Kool units only measure 26” x 18” when placed side by side, or 37”x 13” when placed end to end. You get much better loading flexibility with the Dual Kool.
Can my unit be upgraded?
As far as we know, we are the only portable cooling company that has a proven track record of upgrading our customers’ older units to current offerings. We take pride in our outstanding and personal customer service.
Will this cool my entire vehicle?
Probably not. B-Kool™ is limited to the amount of BTUs contained in the ice used for cooling. The amount of ice is limited to the size of the actual container. What B-Kool™ will do, however, is provide a cold air source that can be ducted in the direction you desire. Many of our customers tell us that this similar to actual air conditioning, but at a fraction of the price.
Is B-Kool™ for airplanes only?
B-Kool™ can be used anywhere there is a DC power source of 12 or 24 volts. Use B-Kool ™in campers and boats or for hot-weather tail gate parties, picnics, and more. Just add ice, water, and power to enjoy a steady stream of cold air. You can count on B-Kool™to do its job.
How much ice will B-Kool™ hold?
B-Kool™ holds up to 25 pounds of ice. Under normal conditions, this will provide up to 2 hours of cold air.
Can I use dry ice in B-Kool™?
Absolutely not! Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide and can be harmful or even deadly if used in any enclosed area.
What kind of power is required?
B-Kool™ is available in both 12 volt and 24 volt versions.
How hard is it to drain the water after use?
Because B-Kool™ has an exclusive remote control, draining is a breeze. All you have to do is extend the drain hose to where you want the water to drain and turn on the remote control. Within about a minute the unit is empty. This means you rarely have to remove B-Kool™ from your vehicle.
How much does B-Kool™ Weigh?
B-Kool™ only weighs about 10 pounds when it is empty. Full of ice, the unit weighs about 30 pounds. Because it’s removable, B-Kool™ makes better sense than a factory air conditioning system because it can be removed when not in use.
What kind of warranty do you offer?
We offer a two year warranty on all components.
What if it B-Kool™ doesn’t fit my vehicle?
Simply return the unit in its original condition within 30 days of purchase and we will cheerfully refund your purchase price.
