Had a day trip from Austin to Addison, TX today so I decided to throw the B-Kool unit in the back seat for the return trip which was going to be around 3pm right in the heat of the day. When I arrived back at Atlantic after my meetings I asked for two small bags of ice and they brought them out while I was preflighting the airplane. Tossed them into the B-Kool unit and poured one bottle of water in the unit and shut the lid. Finished up the preflight and then got in and fired up with all windows and doors closed. Turned on the unit via the remote attached to my mag switch key. Called clearance delivery and got my departure instructions all while enjoying the cool air blowing into the front cockpit area. Taxied to 15 for run up check and then called for departure. Just my luck tower had there arrivals lined up in front of me with the first being a Stearman on what seemed like a 3 mile final!!! Anyway 3 arrivals and about 10 minutes later I was cleared for departure. This would have been a miserable 10 to 15 minutes without the B-Kool unit as I've done it many times before just like today wearing a business suit. Left the unit on until climbing through 5500 ft enroute to 8500 ft. When I started my decent into Austin I fired up the unit again and enjoyed cool air until taxing up to the hangar all without opening a window or door!! Never done that before in the summer time! Temps today at Addison where close to 100 degrees and similar in Austin.
All this is to say that I can't say enough good things about the unit and the customer service from Bob and the crew at B-Kool
I strap my unit in the rear facing seat behind the pilot seat and plug it into the cigarette lighter plug on the side panel right at that seat. The vent blow right between the pilot and co pilot seat creating a nice airflow to the front
If you are on the fence about this unit I think you will be pleasantly surprised with how well it cools I know I am for sure

"After one flight with the unit I think this unit has hit the mark.
From a distance the portable AC unit looks like the others on the market and plugs into the cigarette outlet. The big selling point for me is that it comes with a remote control similar to one for a car with an on and off button. I plugged the unit into the outlet on my writing table in the back full of ice and headed for Ada Ok, on my way to Illinois. It was already getting warm so I turned it on as I taxied to the runway using the remote control which is really nice because the unit does not need to be in arms reach of you. I had the unit in between the 2nd and 3rd row of seats but it should also fit in the baggage compartment as well.
I left the unit on for my climb and decided to turn it off as I climbed through 10,000 feet. The cabin warmed up quickly so I turned it back on until I reached 19,000 feet where the air temperature was around freezing. As I descended into Ada where the temp was over 100 degrees. I turned the unit on about half way down and it was still putting out cold air down to the ground. It definitely took the edge off the heat. This unit will be getting a lot of flight time during the summer. It's a good alternative to a built-in system that I would only use during the summer.

“Having my B-Kool is a SAFETY feature for me. It's hot in Vegas. I often found myself rushing just to get to the higher altitude and cooler air. I've missed stuff before because I was rushing. Air conditioning changes everything for aviators in the west The B-Kool does the trick for me.”
